On September 11th i will be taking part as one of the British Disabled Ski Team members in a challenging bike ride, peak 2 peak cycling from Ben Nevis, 70 miles to the Cairngorm Mountains in one long day. This route will see the team climbing nearly 2,500 feet. The Team consists of amputees, visually impaired and wheelchair athletes. More at home travelling at speed downhill in the mountains, this push uphill will get the team in shape for the forthcoming season. The majority of the team will be having to do it on handbikes making it even more of a challenge.
This will be the British Teams main fundraising effort this year to raise much needed funds for the everyday running of the team as well as helping the team develop and build on the success of the last couple of years. In the last couple year the team has won 5 World Cup Medals. They have progressed from sending 3 athletes to the 2006 Winter Paralympics to 7 in Vancouver, gaining 5 top 10 places narrowly missing out on the podium.
The team now also has a strong development and youth team which are pushing for places for Sochi 2014 but as always with a growing team comes growing costs and to help the future of the British Disabled Ski Team take the next step to Paralympic Glory we really do need all the help we can get.
Thanks for taking the time to visit the British Disabled Ski Teams JustGiving page and dig in to your pockets as every penny will make a massive difference and you can be part of the Teams future success.

After 3 weeks on snow racing with the British Army Ski teams first in Serre Chevalier at the Army championships getting 5 runs on the luc alphond downhill course along with Super G and Giant Slalom races,
Then moving on to Meribel to the Inter Services Championships where I got 4 downhill runs on the women Olympic downhill course ,
This sort of training is priceless and very hard to come by that’s why I feel so positive with the upcoming speed events in
2007 Great North Run

A solid run in Whistler keeps Russell on the World Cup circuit
A year before the 2010 winter Paralympics Russell is competing at the same venue in the World Cup Finals in Whistler
This chance to run the Paralympic courses before hand is priceless with near perfect race conditions Russell put some strong Downhill Training runs together being clocked at speeds near to 70mph
Although Race day Russell made a few mistakes in his run it was still good enough to qualify him for next years World Cup races and a early qualification towards the criteria set for the 2010 Paralympics .
